Back In Action

This blog feels like such a distant memory to me now. But I’m not here to get sentimental with you. I’m here to say, that I’m back and will be updating the blog.

Lately, I’ve been trying to figure out what I want to do with my life. And honestly, I still have no clue. I have ideas of what I would like to do, but nothing has grabbed me. Nothing has been worthy of pursuing. Except writing. Writing is the one passion that I would gladly do without getting paid. That and making music. I do them both and don’t get paid and I’m okay with that.

So, here we go. In this blog, I will be writing about music, music videos, news stories that interest me and random topics that I want to explore. Will anyone read this blog? Probably not. But I’m okay with that too.

So to start things off, here’s a music video from a band I’ve been listening to a lot lately. They are called The Sidekicks and the song is titled, “Everything in Twos.” Enjoy. And I hope you’ll be back.

Music Video of the Week- Be Your Own Pet

It’s been a while since I’ve graced this blog with my presence. It’s been a busy two months, and unfortunately this blog was put on the back burner. However, the posts shall continue whether you like it or not.

Be Your Own Pet

Be Your Own Pet

This week’s music video comes from a band that I recently discovered even though they broke up a few years ago. Once again, I’m late to the party. It’s like high school all over again. Just kidding, I was never invited to parties in high school…

That’s neither here nor there. This week’s I have chosen the band, Be Your Own Pet. This punk/garage band came to us from the sweet dwellings of Nashville, Tennessee. Which is weird, because the lead singer is the only Ten I See. In other words, she’s attractive.

Anyways, here is there video for the song, Adventure. Enjoy yourselves.

Music Video of the Week- Bright Eyes

When an artist is compared to the likes of Bob Dylan, they must be doing something right. That’s what first drew me to the band, Bright Eyes.

Bright Eyes

Bright Eyes

After listening to multiple songs over and over, I really began to respect and admire this band. At the helm, is Conor Oberst, who plays guitar and handles lead vocals. His shaky, folk style and heartfelt lyrics are really quite a combination.

The songs that drew me to this band the most were Lua, At The Bottom of Everything and Landlocked Blues. If you haven’t heard these tunes, then I highly recommend you check them out after you check out this week’s video.

The video I chose to share is from their record, Casadega, and the song is called Four Winds.

I love this video because it shows the band slowly getting booed of stage while still delivering an amazing performance. I thought it was pretty comical.

So here’s the video, Four Winds, by Bright Eyes.

If you know any other bands similar to Bright Eyes, please let me know about them in the comments section.

Music Video of the Week- Macklemore

I don’t listen to a lot of rap music. Every now and then there is a song from the genre that I will enjoy. So, this week, I’ve surprised myself by picking an indie rapper by the name of Macklemore.

This guy released his first studio album back in October of 2012. I’m pretty sure that I’m a little late jumping on the bandwagon since his music video, Thrift Shop, has been viewed about 50 million times.

Here’s the video for Thrift Shop and I hope you enjoy it as much as I have. Good luck getting it out of your head.

Do you know of any artists similar to this one that I should know about? If so, tell me about them in the comments section.

Music Video of the Week- The Subways

To start off the New Year, I thought I would go with a song that is fun, energetic and quite catchy. This week’s video is from the band, The Subways, and the song is called Shake, Shake.

The Subways

The Subways

The Subways are an indie band from England that released their first album back in 2005, called Young For Eternity. The song they are mostly known for is Oh Yeah.

Throughout their career, they have released 3 studio albums. Even though they haven’t had much commercial success, they have built a big following playing at festivals and clubs.

I first heard of this band back in 2006 when they were playing with Taking Back Sunday on their summer tour. They were the first act, and they had a great sound. Recently, I started listening to all of their latest music and I haven’t been disappointed.

Check out the video:

Music Video of the Week- The Scenic

For some reason, every time I find a new band whose music I enjoy, they break up. For instance, this week’s band, The Scenic, was a nifty little band that I stumbled upon one day. I really dug a few of their tracks and decided to learn more about them.

The Scenic

The Scenic

Sadly, they had broken up a few months before I started listening to their music. Talk about being late to the party. Oh well. At least these guys made one really good album called Bipolaroid that I can still enjoy with the help of Spotify.

This week’s music video is from The Scenic and the song is called, “Uh Oh.” Simple and to the point. This video is pretty odd, but also kind of cool.

It follows around this guy who has an imaginary bunny friend that seems to get him in a lot of trouble. I think we can all relate to that, right?

Anyways, here’s the video and I hope you like it.

Do you know of any other bands that are similar to this one? If so, tell me about them in the comments section!

Music Video of the Week- Good Old War

I’ve been trying to find some new bands to listen to lately because I’ve discovered I keep listening to the same songs over and over. However, thanks to the wonderful invention/app that is Spotify, I’ve been able to stumble upon some new tunes that I really dig.

The band, Good Old War.

The band, Good Old War.

This week’s music video comes from a nifty band called Good Old War. These guys are from Philadelphia and have been making tunes since 2008, so I’m a little late to the party.

Here is there video for their song called, “Coney Island.” I’m really into acoustics and these guys have a pretty cool sound. Also, the song is quite catchy, so enjoy it!

Can you recommend any other good bands that are similar to these guys? If so, tell me about them.
